Ladies/girls guid camp

The Annual Ladies/Girls Guild.  We are thanking God Almighty for the success of the year 2016 camp. The camp which was being held as usual at Rufus Giwa Secondary School Ibaram Iyani Akoko came up between Thursday 7th April 2016 – Sunday 10th April 2016. It was hosted by the Cathedral Church of St Stephen Ikare. The Theme was “Living a purposeful life” (Eph 1:9 – 12).

The camp was opened with a Holy Communion service which was led by the Host and the Chaplains. The camp also featured Bible Study, Match pass, Discussion I – “It does not matter: Christian conflict between the church and the world” led by Mrs. C.K. Opaleye while Discussion II was handled by Mrs. O.O. Awoneye on “What are the causes of sexual pressure?

Talk I, II and III were taken by Mrs. E.O. Agunloye, Sister Ope Ogunsusi and Mrs. A.O Akingbesote respectively on:

  • Talk I “Walk by the spirit” Gal 5:16,
  • Talk II “You are highly favoured” Luke 1:28.
  • Talk III “Entrepreneurship and career.

Variety night by each Archdeaconry, Physical Exercise, Catching the train, Health Talk on “Toilet Disease (virginal infection”) delivered by Mrs. B.A. Olorunkoya Practical work on how to make cookies directed by Mama Akoko, Mrs. Stella Akinbiyi and cooking competition was not left behind. The camp was full of numerous activities.

There was a class for the Children where we have four to five experienced teacher handling them and they enjoyed themselves throughout the programme.

There was also Bible quiz amongst representatives of each Archdeaconry. Thanksgiving service and presentation of gifts/trophies to the winner of each event camp up. The following Archdeaconries emerged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in;

2015 Diocesan Jesus Carnival

The 8th Edition of the Diocesan Jesus Carnival was between November, 2015 while the Grand Finale was held at the Field of the Bishopscourt, Ugbe Road, Ikare Akoko.

THE PRE & POST CARNIVAL

The Pre-Carnival Power Night was held at St. Thomas’ Church, Eshe, Ikare on Friday 13th November while the Exchange programme came up on Sunday, 15th November, 2015.

The programme started at 10.30am with the arrival of the Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Revd. G. A. Akinbiyi and Mama Akoko, Mrs. Stella A. Akinbiyi. The Venerable F. A. Adaramola said the Opening Prayer, while Venerable O. O. Adeosun was the Carnival Master of Ceremony; he introduced Baba and Mama Akoko, Chief M. O. Olabode, The Baba Ijo of the Cathedral Church of St. Stephen, Ikare and other dignitaries.

FORMAL OPENING

During the formal and official opening of the year’s carnival by the Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Revd.  Gabriel A. Akinbiyi, he emphasized, succinctly, spoke on God’s power of deliverance, healing and salvation.  He charged and encouraged all to know the Lord Jesus Christ personally, proclaim and preach Him.  The Diocesan Bishop took time to do a pain-staking introduction of the Diocesan Carnival Guest Minister, The RT. Revd. (Prof.) Dapo Asaju, the former Dean of the Church of Nigeria Crowther Graduate School, Abeokuta, now the Vice Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.  The Bishop expressed his happiness on been successful, eventually at bringing the Rt. Revd. Prof. Dapo Asaju as Guest Minister at our Annual DJC after many unsuccessful attempts.  He thereafter declared the Carnival open.

At the close of the official opening Lady Evangelist Mrs. Gbemisola  Olarewaju took the stage, on invitation, leading the praise and worship sessions.  This was followed by Song Ministration by Evangelist Ogunleye (AwokoJesu).

PROCLAMATION OF JESUS

At mid-day, The Dr. Mrs. S. A. Olowodunoye, led the participants in the proclamation of JESUS for five minutes.  Our Guest Artiste Lady Evangelist Mrs. Gbemisola Olarewaju led the congregation in another inspiring, lively and moving praise session.

SPECIAL ANTHEMS

These are rendered by the Lady Evang. Mrs. Gbemisola Olarewaju, Evang. Ogunleye (AwokoJesu) and Ikare AYF Choir.  Testimonies:  There were given by (1)  Bro. Lawrence Dey Love, who escape from a sudden death from Okada/truck accident.  (2)  Ven. E.A.  Adeniyi  whose daughter, God gave a baby boy in answer to prayer at 2014 DJC after five years of marriage.

SPIRITUAL BENEFITS

24 Converts were, many were revived spiritually while many fell under God’s powerful anointing

Diocesan Women harvest

The year 2015 Women Harvest was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Akungba Akoko on Saturday 28th November 2015. The Women from all Archdeaconries including the Cathedral came with different attires came to grace the occasion. The Service started at 10.00am by the Vicar in Charge, Ven. F. T. Akerele with all the Church workers within the Archdeaconry. The Lord Bishop of Akoko preached the sermon. This year only two Chairperson were invited and the Lord used them to bless the Women. May the Lord continue to replenish their purses in Jesus name. We thank God for his enabling grace granted us to celebrate the fourth harvest. We thank all the Chairpersons, the Host and those that contributed generously to the success of the Harvest. May the Lord of harvest bless you all. Amen.

Father’s Day Celebration

Father’s Day Celebration

This year’s Fathers’ Day was celebrated throughout the world on 19th June, 2016 with the theme “The Family: Society’s Building Block”.
The Diocese of Akoko was not left out, the celebration was done in all the Churches in a week long program with different activities with the father such as Talks, Special Rendition, Debates, Prayers and Thanksgiving which was done between Tuesday 14th – Sunday 19th June, 2016.
The Mother Church of the Diocese, The Cathedral Church of St. Stephen, Ikare also participated fully in all the activities with a just few fathers in attendance, who came during the weekly activities which Guest Speakers were called to give them lectures in various topics which are: “The Role of Husband to his wife at home”, “The Role of the Father to his Children” and The Role of the Father to his Church and Creator”. The lectures were delivered by Mr. Emmanuel Agunloye, Mr. Imoru and Mr. Jide Kumosin respectively. The attendance of the Fathers was very encouraging are they were allowed to participate in the Service by reading of Psalm, 1st Lesson and 2nd Lesson, while the Dean of the Cathedral preached the sermon on the theme. The Sunday School were there to present their rendition to the Fathers and Church Choir to know the weight of the Fathers at home.
The Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Revd. G. A. Akinbiyi and Mama Akoko were in attendance to grace the occasion. Celebration cake was cut to put life to the occasion of the Fathers’ Day.
It was a time of appreciating the worth of the Fathers in our society.
