YOUTH SUMMIT:
The annual one day Retreat for the youth organized by the Women Organization of Akoko Diocese was held at St. Thomas’ Church Eshe, Ikare on Saturday, 7th November 2015. This was the fifth of its kind. It started with Holy Communion service followed by the Opening Charge of Mama Akoko. The theme for the Summit was “Balancing life’s priorities; Mary and Martha concept of Luke 10:38 – 42 which was delivered by Rev’d Can. A.B. Awoneye, While Rev’d S.O Nnamani talked on “Possessing your passions by standing focus”. There was Sharing time with the Bishop during the Bishop’s hour and which was observed judiciously.
The youths from all over the nooks and crannies of Akoko turned out in large number for the summit and it was a blessing to many (if not all) the youths. Thank God the Church is catching up the youth in this 21st Century.
THE ACTIVITIES OF ANGLICAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
The 31st Annual Bible Study Conference of the Diocese of Akoko was hosted by Ogbagi Archdeaconry between 24th – 26th July, 2015 with the theme “The Battle is Mine” – I Samuel 17:47. The Conference was attended by over 600 youths across the Diocese. The Conference featured ministrations, teachings, Bible Exposition, Prayer Sessions, Deliverance, Quiz Competition, Rally, Talks, Plenary Session and Thanksgiving. The maiden edition of the AYF Sticker was presented and launched during the conference.
The National Bible Study Conference which was better attended than recent year in Offa, Kwara State, was the besdt outing in our history. The Diocesan consignments at the Bible Quiz competition performed well. We thank the Diocesan Bishop, all our Archdeacons and Priests for their morale booster given to us before and during the Conference.
TheFellowship had Evangelical Outreach to Ighasi/Eriti Akoko on 30th October and 1st November, 2015 with the theme “Escape for thy life”. Theprogramme enjoyed the manifestation of God’s presence and power as the members witnessed Christ Jesus in all the houses and families in Ighasi/Eriti, souls were won for Christ Jesus. Praise God!
A 2 day Retreat for the fellowship sister tagged “Sisters’ Retreat”. The Retreat was held at Saint Luke’s Church, Ayegunle Oka between 11th – 12th September , 2015 with the theme “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand” (Matt. 3:2). The programme featured Bible Study, Seminar, mTalks, Film Show, Group Discussion, Prayer and Testimonies. The programme was attended by 124 delegates from 14 Archdeaconries.
The Fellowship had other programmes like the Bi-Annual Praise Nights (Easter & Christmas) which were attended by over 1,000 youths, the fellowship week, leadership training, etc. The fellowship was also participatory in all Diocesan organized function during the under review.
